Czech Beach Ultimate Nationals 2026

FAQ

When does play start, and do we play on Sunday?

First pull is at 11:00 on Saturday 12 September — be on the sand in time to warm up. Eight teams entered, so Sunday 13 September is played too — first pull 10:30, last game finishing at 16:45. The full schedule is on the Schedule & Format page.

How many games do we play?

Six. Three group games on Saturday against the rest of your group, then three on Sunday: a quarterfinal, a semifinal in your half of the bracket, and a placement game. Nobody is knocked out — every team plays all three. Games are 45 minutes with a 15-minute turnaround, and Sunday has a 45-minute break in the middle of the day.

What are the game rules — caps, halftime, timeouts?

Hard cap at 15 points, or at 45 minutes and then the leading score +1. Halftime at 8 points, or at 25 minutes on the same rule — and the halftime break is 75 seconds, the same as a timeout: swap ends and play on. Two timeouts per game, taken whenever you want them. Mixed ratio A, gender pull.

How much was it, and can we still enter?

Entries closed on 1 September and the fee was due on 6 September, so the field is set — eight teams. The fee was set by ČAU and did not go above 2 500 Kč per team. It is non-refundable after the due date, bad weather included; the only exception is the organisers cancelling the tournament.

What do I bring?

Light and dark team jerseys, sunscreen, a water bottle, a towel and a warm layer for the evening — September nights by the lake get cold. The sand is a bit coarse with the odd stone in it, so sandsocks come in handy. Add a tent and sleeping bag if you're camping, and bring some cash.

What if someone gets hurt?

The organisers have a basic first aid kit at the fields — find any of us and we will get it to you. For anything urgent call 155, the ambulance service, or 112, the European emergency number. There is no medic on site, so bring your own kit for the small stuff, and remember that every player is responsible for their own health and insurance.

What if it rains?

We play. Beach ultimate runs in rain and wind; only lightning stops play, and then only until it passes. The entry fee is not refunded for weather.

How do we get there, and where do we park?

Úštěk is about 80 km north of Prague, roughly 1h15 by car. Two car parks serve the beach: Parkoviště Chmelař, three minutes' walk from the fields, and Parkoviště Úštěk by the campsite as the fallback when the first one fills up. Without a car, take the U11 local train to Úštěk station — a five minute walk — or the bus to the Úštěk, motel stop, about the same distance.

Where can I shower and use a toilet?

There is a free cold outdoor shower and free toilets right on the beach, with a drinking water tap. Warm showers are at Kemp Úštěk by the campsite entrance — those are paid, and you buy the coins at the campsite reception, 20 Kč a token.

Is there food on site?

We do not organise any catering. There will be a small snack bar by the beach with its own kitchen and a few tables, serving fast food and cold drinks. For a proper meal the closest options are Koliba inside the campsite and Restaurace Hotelu Racek, seven minutes' walk, open until midnight on Friday and Saturday. In town there is a pizzeria, a café and a bakery. Every place around the venue is listed with its opening hours on the venue page.

Which shops are open over the weekend?

PNS Potraviny on Polské lidové armády is open 07:00–20:00 every day, weekend included — that is the one to count on. On the square, Potraviny Bá Ngoc Nguyen keeps 07:00–18:00 on Saturday and 08:00–17:00 on Sunday, while Potraviny U Křečka and the bakery close around 11:00 on Saturday and stay shut on Sunday. The nearest full-size supermarkets — Kaufland, Lidl — are in Litoměřice, about 20 minutes by car. Do the big shop on Friday.

Do I need cash?

Bring some. There is one cash machine in Úštěk — Česká spořitelna on Mírové náměstí, non-stop, about 13 minutes' walk from the beach. Shower tokens at the campsite and the smaller shops are easier with cash.

Can we still book a place to sleep?

Kemp Úštěk is the tournament base — camping and 2- to 6-bed cottages on the same site as the fields. Camping runs 150 Kč a day for a tent plus 60 Kč per adult and 50 Kč for a car; cottages work out at roughly 220–400 Kč per person a night. Book by phone directly with the campsite. Tournament check-in is Friday 13:00–19:00 and Saturday 10:00–15:00 — if you can't make Friday evening, call reception ahead rather than turning up late.

Can I bring my family?

Yes. It's a lakeside campsite with space around the fields, and plenty of players bring partners and kids for the weekend. At the campsite children under 15 are 40 Kč a day, and the city stay fee of 25 Kč a day applies to everyone 18 and over.

Is there a party?

No official party this edition — teams are welcome to organise their own evening at the beach or the campsite. Quiet hours from 22:00 are a strict rule of the town, so keep the noise down after that.

What do we do with rubbish?

Bins and bags are provided across the site. We share this beach with the town of Úštěk, so take your rubbish off the sand. If you're around on Friday, a quick walk along the beach picking up whatever is lying on top gets everyone started on clean sand.
